Bill Clements had his 85 Centre Titles recognised in the Otago Daily Times. Well done Bill.
Here is a slightly different version of the article:
Clocking up his 85th title in Central Otago
Bill Clements of Alexandra Bowling Club has just clocked up his 85th Centre Title at the Mike Pero Triples held on 16 &17 November. There were 24 teams entered and NZ medalists among the opposition. 11 teams qualified from the rounds played in Queenstown on Saturday and the final series was played at Clyde on Sunday in perfect weather.
Clements took into his team rookie development player Len Lynskey and the more experienced Ray Leeden as lead. Clements was bowling splendid bowls seemingly unable to miss his run shots. The strong Arrowtown Team of Allan Brash, Kelvin Jackson and Jeff McCandless had no answer and went down 25-5 in the final.
Clements received his first Central Otago Title in 1983 open singles which was the first year it was played. 85 centre titles is close to a New Zealand Bowls Centre record. Clements is well known on the New Zealand circuit and his knowledge quoted by bowls commentators on television.

Sponsorship for Our Teams
We are very proud of our Central Otago Teams. Their new team jackets, kindly sponsored by Hawkeswood Mining Ltd, will hopefully be here by Christmas.
There is a lot of time and effort involved from all those selected as well as coaches and organisers. Travel is our largest problem and it means that our teams must invest more time and funds just because of our isolation. Our teams need to compete against other Centres regularly which in turn lifts the level downstream. This year the men and women are competing in an additional tournament in Christchurch on 8 & 9 of February. Our biggest expense is travel. Those selected also encrue much expense just attending all the Central Otago events and training.

If you would like to sponsor please contact us. Every small contribution is valued. We have sponsors listed on our home page. We have no direct assets, our indirect assets are our umbrella clubs.

A gentle Discussion
We had a talk about what is dumping? Apparently it is a bowl released from higher than 30 cm. If you are not guilty well I am... So what happened? After I did it I think. "Thats terrible I threw that one" So what did I do wrong? Its probably timing in my case. Here is what Jack High Bowls has to say.

Most of our clubs have bowling arms for you to try out if you just cannot get down any more so ask a buddy for help. Bowls New Zealand have no policy on this and neither does Central Otago. We don't want anyone to feel they are not welcome to play nor do we want to loose any members.
The State of Flow
Most of you will have experienced this and you want to repeat it more often. Or maybe you have heard of it and it is yet to happen.

Some people know this as being in the zone. It happens when you are in deep concentration and you are not aware of anything else but what you are doing. You play very well at the top of your game.

A famous psychologist expoused this theory so you can read more about it here.
